Welcome to Keene, Texas. Keene is a quiet town perfectly situated on the historic Chisholm Trail, located on Hwy 67 and FM 2280, 6 miles West of 1-35. Keene was founded in 1890 and incorporated in 1955. Keene is the highest point in Johnson County and aims high to succeed in development in the present and in the future. Keene is known for its rich history in healthy living, education, and dedication to service of others.
We are the educational center of Johnson County with exemplary rated schools (private and public), churches, and of course, our University. Keene has a great city park with many opportunities for family oriented fun, including movie nights at the park and various athletic programs.
