On Wednesday, January 13, 2010 just before 7:30pm Keene Police officers responded to assist Johnson County SO Deputies on a report of an possible attempted abduction in the 3000 block of CR 805-B. Upon arrival at the scene Keene officers determined that the location was in a newly annexed area of the City of Keene. It was reported that an 11 year old boy was walking from one residence to another when he saw a black 4-door vehicle, possibly a Toyota or other foreign-made vehicle, on the roadway. The boy said there were four people in the vehicle, and that the driver got out and began to approach the boy. The suspect twice told the boy to "come here", and said that he wasn't going to hurt him. The boy began running and fell in the ditch and hurt his ankle, but got up and continued running with the suspect behind him. The boy's step-father saw something going on and called out asking who was there. The suspect began running away from the scene west on CR 805-B and the black car sped off east on CR 805-B. The boy returned home safely. The suspect was described as tall, thin, and dressed in black or dark clothing. The ethnicity of the suspect is unknown. Officers searched the surrounding area but were unable to locate the car or the suspect. The investigation is continuing.
